About Us
All her life, Alicia has had a creative knack. Whether it was refurbishing old furniture, interior decorating, gardening, landscaping, or crafting, Alicia always had a vision for something better. After years of wondering how best to apply her talents, opportunity finally met preparation, and Scalliwag Customs was born.Â
Following the COVID-19 lockdowns, Alicia realized that she could build an e-commerce business from home, and ship her creations far and wide, using social media to spread the word.Â
On the other side of the house, Jordan keeps things sane and under control. After commissioning in the Army in 2012, Jordan served on active duty for 5 years, and then transitioned to the Army Reserves in 2017. Jordan uses his Army experience to order the kids around and maintain peak performance throughout the day. Naturally, Jordan takes all commands from the wife.Â
Jordan and Alicia use complimentary talents to keep things flowing. Alicia makes products, searches for new stuff, brainstorms ideas, and uses her natural creativity to draw new designs and products. Jordan uses basic computer skills to track inventory, maintain the website, and rein in the ideas that are just a little too out there.
At home, Jordan and Alicia are proud parents of three of their own kids, and have practically adopted two neighborhood kids. How they managed to start a business is anyone's guess.
Currently Scalliwag Customs is operated out of Southern Maryland, where Alicia comes up with new ideas, fancy art, and great designs. Jordan just barely manages to keep up. Every so often we get inspiration and help from the kids, Michael, Taylor, Aiden, Vera, and Lena.Â
